Detection of toxic gases and vapors
Polytron 8100 EC is the most advanced Dräger explosion-proof transmitter for the detection of toxic gases and oxygen. It uses an intelligent and interchangeable high-performance electrochemical DrägerSensor to detect a specific gas. In addition to a 4-wire, 3-wire, 3-wire analog output with relays, it also offers the Modbus and Fieldbus protocols for greater compatibility.
Durable, intelligent and sensitive: DrägerSensor
The unique technology within the electrochemical DrägerSensors allows the Polytron 8100 to detect more than 100 toxic gases and oxygen. These durable sensors perform detection continuously even in the heaviest conditions. The DrägerSensors offer the most extensive temperature and humidity range in the industry, between -40 ° C and +65 ° C. The built-in memory contains all the calibration and configuration information. The sensor is delivered calibrated and ready for immediate operation. An intelligent sensor self-test function allows predictive maintenance. The already secure connection of the sensor eliminates the need to connect a flame blocker, which speeds up response times and increases sensitivity.
Easy team management through digital communication.
Dräger Polytron 8100 is equipped with digital interfaces that allow a quick consultation of the status of the transmitter quickly and easily. Through DTM, it is possible to integrate it with current asset management systems, such as PACTware. In addition to the usual HART communication system, the fieldbus PROFIBUS PA, FOUNDATION fieldbus H1 interfaces and the Modbus RTU are also available.
Same design, same operating principle
Dräger Polytron 8100 belongs to the Polytron 8000 series. All transmitters in this series have the same design and user interface. This allows uniform operation with less need for training and maintenance. The large backlit graphic display shows the status information clearly and in a simple format. The concentration of the gas measured, the type of gas selected and the unit of measurement appear on the screen during normal operation. The colored LEDs (green, yellow and red) offer additional status and alarm information. The Polytron 8100 is operated by touching a magnet on the contact surfaces on the screen.
Three relays to control external equipment
The Dräger Polytron 8100 has the option of being equipped with three integrated relays. This allows you to use it as an independent gas detection system with two arbitrarily adjustable concentration alarms and a fault alarm. Audible alarms, signal lights or similar devices can thus be controlled locally without an additional cable between the transmitter and the central controller
Safe and robust cover for any application
The Polytron 8100 features an explosion-proof Class I, Div. 1 cover made of aluminum or stainless steel, which makes it suitable for all types of environmental conditions. The version with protection type “e” includes a practical coupling station that facilitates its installation in dangerous atmospheres without functioning ducts (where it is approved).
The remote sensor option does not require a cable conduit
The optional remote sensor housing allows the sensor to be installed away from the transmitter. This facilitates the placement of the sensor near a potential gas cloud in an inaccessible location with the screen at eye level.
Since the sensor is connected to the transmitter through an intrinsically safe port, the need to install a conduit for the cable is eliminated. And to further facilitate the process, Dräger includes up to 30 meters of cable. The intrinsically safe connection also allows the sensor to be exchanged in a dangerous atmosphere without cutting off the supply and without declassifying the area.
More functions with additional connectors
Additional functions can be added to the Polytron 8100 through electronic keys. The data logging key comes standard and continuously records gas readings and events. Another available test key offers more sensor self-test functions. There is a third key available with advanced functions for sensor diagnostics. These additional keys indicate the vital state of the sensor, allowing an estimation of the remaining useful life.
